Thirty-three Kannon along 120 m of cave.

The hall was raised in prayer for the people who built Jozankei and opened up Hokkaido. A cave runs about 120 m into the rock behind it, lined with thirty-three figures of Kannon — a quiet place, and one where the history of the town is close to hand.

Getting there

Down Yukemuri slope from the port at Jozankei Daiichi Hotel Suizantei. The cave is dark — give your eyes a moment before going further in.
