No. 6Jozankei Shrine
A shrine of 1905, standing in the trees above the town.
Built in 1905, the shrine stands among trees on high ground looking down on the hot-spring town. Corydalis flowers in spring and the leaves in autumn are both worth the climb, and the settling of Jozankei and the history of its springs are quietly present here.
Getting there
A few minutes uphill on foot from the port at the Jozankei Tourist Information Centre. There are stone steps, so leave the vehicle at the bottom.
